As a home user with a dependency on Xfinity TV service on Roku, but Fios for Internet. I have to use a vlan to route the Roku to Xfinity (crap Internet). Which is really annoying as it breaks many remote applications that don't traverse Vlans properly. This policy routing seems ideal for this use case at long last.
looks like i am missing collect historical data… any thoughts ?
Can't have Teleport VPN unless you're on 1.12 firmware, which is still in the early access stage with no ETA on release.
I like Ubiquiti’s products but holy hell these new Aggregation Pros are pissing me thebhell off with the constant lockups. So much so that I’m returning them all.
Problem is that I’m not even sure what to replace them with. They fit the features and price and performance so well. But none of that matters if they’re going to get me fired…
Loving the new Port Insights page and bulk port editing, but 'Clear counters' option seems to be missing? So you have to switch to legacy UI again to clear them, if needed. Oh well…
Where can i find logs for failed login to wifi?
Ubiquiti's customer support and tech support is simple, it doesn't exist. Their policy is to let the users find solutions themselves.
I'm currently running pfSense firewall on a mini PC, using two WAN connections. The PC does not have 10/5/2.5Gbit connection so I miss out the max throughput of my internet connections (1,45Gbit). Would buying a single Ubiquiti Dream Machine Pro solve this, including using two WAN connections at the same time? The Special Edition is sold out and not available.
Unifi is a piece of…
Disparate UIs (some things in one but not the other).
Long unresolved issues like WPA3 roaming, phantom MAC addresses appearing out of nowhere
Good luck connecting with an up-to-date SSH clients or trying to use "modern" cryptography. I complained and had my thread deleted.
Using EOL MongoDB is now a running joke.
Poor documentation (try explaining what half the settings in WiFi mean, who knows if they even work).
Changing something on one SSID makes everything that hosts it go down at the same time.
This is pretty elementary stuff.
I've been running Unifi in my home for about 5 years now, and while I had no major issues (had to recover database once or twice and an AP using DFU once), I'm glad I also have a regular Linux box here for real networking. Their hardware seems to be good value, but let down by not being to actually use it properly.
Anyone know if you can Forget an old client yet?
What I miss is a complete lack of traffic policing or restrictions per VPN user. Since Ubiquiti markets UDMP as a solution for small and medium business, ability to control access for remote employees should be one of the most basic features. I seriously consider adding a separate VPN server instead of UDMP. But then, I can use it to run firewall and an UniFi controller, and I won't need UDMP at all.
Speaking of Unifi… Where is this documentation on SNMP configuration and setup across their ecosystem? So far searches have turned up very little… And there aren't any help links when poking around in Unifi OS/Network etc.
long time ago, as network admin, you had 4meg token ring, no wireless and had a "turbo button" on your 286. There was no cat 5 and token ring cables were square with a lock on them.
There is a great improvement in the radability of the user interface. My complaint about the old ones was the way the contrast decreased as you went down the page. This meant that the text was easy to read at the top, but became a struggle at the bottom. Now the entire pages is easy to read/
I would love to hear more about the tie-in the AD or Google Workspace!
No OpenVPN?
i do not have the 1.12. firmware yet i am on the official release.
What i did do is igmp proxy om the udm pro , so my KPN Netherland +iptv is no working , hpapy with that, vlan on wan1 is working i use vlan 6 for internet and vlan 4 for iptv.
Stil no open vpn or wireguard.
Home user w/ only a single AC-Pro. 7.0.23 didn't notify me of an update, even if I asked it. Now on 7.1.61, hope it notifies of updates. I see the client devices page no longer shows SSID (or was it labeled Network?) which in the past I used for the sorting devices. Guess they want me to have a UniFi GW to get that info now.
Thanks Tom.
All I want is pure wireguard and open vpn support.. As a prosumer it would be enough for me..
thanks.
Note that teleport VPN is not available in 7.1.61 when you're on the official release channel. I just rechecked. I am seeing the port insights stuff. Hopefully they'll release the .65 soon to the stable channel. Some nice improvements recently and no instability for my setup so far; Cameras also show in the controller these days. The dark mode/site setup stuff is not stable though, it keeps kicking back to 'light mode' and '12 hours' every darn time.
Still missing the actual useful stats and graph the old GUI has for Wifi.
I am not seeing Teleport VPN in my Dream Machine Pro….
Weird i have the 7.1.61 already for weeks but my UDM pro is at 1.1. and no update in sight.
One of the main reasons I stoped using UniFi was because they changed the UI literally every year…I prefer stability
The UI update did miss one of the most important needs and thats the lack of VPN support. While it does have some options, they are indeed limited.
Again, thank you for these videos. I want to mention again that you reviewing "safe" controller versions makes my life as a DevOps person only maintaining the Unifi network at home and at the office as a side task SO much less stressful.
what about using a external firewall vpn on the backup line but just note it as a vpn connection that way you can have the 2 connections 1 via vpn and 1 via standard internet
Port Insight was in the old UI, great to see its returned. Great job Ubiquiti…. for a change, lets hope it doesn't create any bricks around the world.. Lol sneaky old Ubiquiti want your VPN traffic…Haha I wouldn't trust em…
